Promoting in-person events |
Madrid Convention Bureau held its annual meeting with professionals from Madrid’s tourism sector. Focusing on ways in which the city can secure its position as an international leader of business tourism, the event endeavoured to promote the holding of safe in-person events. Throughout the month of March, a range of online workshops and meetings led by professionals from the US, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands have been held with the goal of marketing the city as a travel destination. These activities aimed to touch base with these markets and update them on Madrid’s offering, its safety measures and the latest news from the capital. The city was also represented at this year’s virtual edition of the ITB Berlin. |

With next year marking 30 years since it was built, this construction – an iconic landmark thanks to both its architecture and its significance as a tourist attraction – overlooks some of the capital’s most important monuments and natural spaces, from the Royal Palace and the Cuatro Torres Business Area, to the Casa de Campo Park and the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range. A truly unique experience open to all from Tuesday to Sunday for 4 euros (standard ticket). |
An Ode To El Rastro in eme21magazine |
The illustrated magazine published by Madrid’s City Council’s Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport is devoting its April edition to one of the city’s most unique spaces, El Rastro. This month, its pages are filled with stories, interesting facts and anecdotes about this must-visit destination which is much more than just an ordinary flea market held on Sunday mornings. It’s a place in which you’ll find antique shops and stalls, vintage furniture stores and other establishments selling all kinds of items abandoned by their owners and heirs which eventually found their way to this labyrinth of lively streets. The magazine’s cover features an illustration, by Kike de la Rubia, of dawn breaking as stalls are set up on the sloping Ribera de Curtidores street early one Sunday morning. |
