This magnificent 19th-century building on Calle del Arenal, once considered one of the grandest palaces of its day, has reopened following an extensive restoration. Its rooms now provide the setting for a permanent exhibition showcasing a selection of Salvador Dalí’s sculptures, featuring 14 works displayed throughout the building, together with original drawings by the Catalan artist. |

Local Tourism Council holds its first meeting of 2026 |
The advisory and consultative body presented two new initiatives: the Tourism Intelligence System (SIT), a new platform designed to provide better insight into visitor behaviour, visitor flows and other tourism indicators; and Sueña Madrid, an urban planning tool. The meeting also reviewed tourism trends in the capital during the first quarter of the year. |

Madrid to launch new air route to Singapore in October |
The new connection will strengthen Madrid’s links with Southeast Asia and Oceania, bringing more than 100 cities in the region within easy reach of the Spanish capital and helping to attract high-value visitors from Asian markets. Operated by Singapore Airlines, the route will offer five flights a week and is expected to generate an economic impact of €265 million. |

Madrid welcomes Pope Leo XIV |
Pope Leo XIV will visit Madrid from 6 to 9 June as part of his apostolic journey to Spain. The pontiff’s itinerary in the capital will include a prayer vigil with young people in Plaza de Lima and a public Mass in Plaza de Cibeles. To mark the occasion, Madrid City Council has created the Sacred Madrid map and organised the photo exhibition Papal Visits to Madrid. |

The Puente del Rey esplanade in Madrid Río Park will host the first edition of this international indie food festival on 13 and 14 June. International tourism continued to grow in April |
Madrid welcomed 986,098 visitors in April, generating 2.1 million overnight stays. International travellers accounted for 63.14% of the total (622,634) and 70.31 % of all overnight stays in the capital that month (1,516,313). The fastest-growing source markets were Brazil, which saw a 21.19% increase to 15,462 visitors; the USA, up 7.70% to 105,093 visitors; and Mexico, which grew by 3.74% to 29,126 visitors. |

One of Madrid’s most beautiful green spaces, this historic garden combines several different styles and was created for the Duke and Duchess of Osuna between 1787 and 1839. Among its treasures is a Civil War bunker, considered unique in Europe for its exceptional preservation. This remarkable “natural museum” in the Barajas district is open on weekends and public holidays, and in 2027, it will house a cultural space dedicated to its history. |
